CTCMath ~ REVIEW

Recently we were able to use the Family Membership from CTCMath with both Mahala and Kaden.  I had high hopes for this program, because we had tried it once before and loved it.  But, we have been struggling over here with Kaden as we try to deal with his Autism.  That being said, I hope to continue using CTCMath for the rest of the year for both kids.  But, hey you don't have to just take my word for it.... I'm excited to be able to offer you a FREE Trial so you can try CTCMath out for yourself.  And right now until November 15, 2017 you can take advantage of a great offer for Homeschool Families!!!   60% off + 6 bonus months

CTCMath is a Comprehensive Online Math Tutorial Program for grades K through 12.
There are over 1,400 Animated and Narrated math lessons, Interactive Exercises, Diagnostic Tests, Feedback to each Student, Detailed Reporting to the Parents, and Much more.

For both kids we used it to supplement their weekly Math work.  For Mahala she worked on Geometry and Algebra for a review.  She has completed both over the past year, but with this program it is very easy to go through the contents and review or brush up on certain areas.  Both kids are hands on learners, but Mahala works best off the computer.  Once she chose the section she wanted to work on for instance Factoring.  After clicking it a list of 13 lessons pop up.  She would click one, watch the video sometimes even look over the lesson summary you can view online or print out....she's done both.  After the video then she completed the worksheet available.  Once again this could be printed, done orally or written out in her Math notebook or completed online.  I simply love the versatility here.  Not only does it allow the student a little control and say how they complete their work, but it gives you options to change things up over the course of the year.

Now with Kaden being on the Spectrum he has a lot of needs that need to be met when it comes to any curriculum I put in front of him.  I have used other Math online programs, but they always seem to overwhelm him visually.  All the bright colors, noises and forest of extras are just too much for him to focus.  It doesn't help if a program offers all the bells and whistles if it causes him to shut down or explodes into a meltdown.  This program gave Kaden a comfortable, easy to read layout of what needed to be accomplished each day.  It was simple, easy to understand and navigate.  He's the kind of kiddo that wants to know what to do and then he wants to get down to business.  Each day he watches a short video and then answers his questions usually orally with me or in his notebook.  Everything is visually clean and organized, he said that was what he liked best about the program.

So, what do I think?  Both of the kids said that they liked being able to see what mistakes they made right away and having the right answer available right away made it easy to catch what they were doing wrong and fix it.  Mahala said it was very convenient that she could access the videos right from her cell phone.  I would say that made it perfect for doing a little Math on the go, outside in the garden or while grabbing a fast snack.  I think it's a great program and would consider it a great extra for Junior high or highschool work.  Elementary ages could probably get away with using only this program.  With Kaden I felt like the Elementary levels were very complete.  We have worked through 3rd-5th with him.  Mahala has worked through some of Algebra and Geometry.
