Unauthorized ~ REVIEW

Who doesn't Love a Game Night with Friends and Family?  It's one of my Favorite moments in my week for sure.  We always incorporate games into our daily homeschooling, but at least once a week we like to gather everyone around the table to play or read.  Several months ago we were introduced to Chara Games and we loved that they are Built by a Family for Families.  Not to mention that they all have a Christian Theme. In the past I have Reviewed two of their other games in the past... Commissioned and 3 Seeds.  But, today I get to share with you their newest game Unauthorized.

We love board games, but card games are the best for our family because they are so portable and fast to set up.  We like to take them camping with us.  Last I counted we had 16 games in our RV.  :)  Unauthorized is geared for ages 12 and up and for 6-12 players.  (A game for larger amounts of people!!! YAY, no more making up teams or sides so all of us can play at once)  Kaden is almost 11 and had no problem getting the concept and playing, but he loves strategic games.  So, take that into consideration if you are looking to play with younger kiddos then recommended.  As far as the amount of players, well we usually don't have 6-12 people just hanging around in our RV while we are camping.  We couldn't wait to play once we received it in the mail, so we modified to play with only us 4.  We did invite several friends over to play a few times and of course with Leslie and Skylar.   My main recommendation is that you should watch the video directions, even if you think you don't need to... it's so helpful.  And once you get it and understand it's like clock work around the table. :)

Once we gathered our game snacks and drinks we sorted through all the cards and looked at all the different roles we could play we read through the directions and watched the video.  And then watched it again.... I'm so not a directions person.  And if you are like that too, don't worry Patrick and Katherine Lysaghts offers the BEST video tutorial I have ever seen for us visual people. :)  We gathered around the table and I looked at them with crazy eyes and said..... So, I have 1 Question.....are you going to Build Up the Church....or Crush It Mercilessly?  Kaden looked at me like I was crazy.  You know he's our literal thinker.  And let me tell you he is unbelievably good at this game.  We were all on the edge of our seats the whole time, it's a fast paced, social deduction game and lasts roughly 30 minutes or so.  Like I said above you are going to either build up the Church or try and take it down.  And it's a secret throughout the game.  In the beginning you pick your role and try and influence others to join you on your mission.  And who has your loyalty, the Church or the State?  The game changer here is that it flip flops during the game because it all depends on the experience cards you draw.  We have played several times now and every single time the game has been different then expected and we all have this anxious laugh with anticipation until the very end.  That's the Best way I can describe our reactions!! :)  I have to say Kaden is the Boss, you can't trust this kid playing Risk and he's one to watch in this game too.

Are you a family that enjoys playing games together, likes strategic games, have a group of friends or a big family?  Do you have a church group and looking for fun things to incorporate when you meet together?  What about a homeschool group, game club or even date nights with friends?  This is something all ages 12 and up can have fun playing.
