Math has always been my worst subject, but it's one that comes up in daily life over and over. So it's important for our children to build up their math confidence and master their math skills. In the past we have used everyday math, math games and real life to strengthen their skills and it's worked fine for many years. Enter in Kaden who would rather play video games then eat. I was thrilled to be able to try an online math learning program from Matific Galaxy.

family. The program is designed to be self-guided, so children can learn

After you pick your grade level you set off to rescue the leaders of various planets. After you save the planet's leader by unlocking all the levels and earning your pixels you move on to the next planet. Each pixelated character has a certain amount of missing pixels that your child earns by completing the games. I love that the games are such a wide variety. Kaden was always engaged with the new content, he said it wasn't boring like some games he had played in the past. Even though the skills are repetitive, the game content is always fresh and different. Kaden said he also liked that if you didn't collect all the stars from each game you could replay it to get a higher score. And this would get you more pixels, help you level up and coins to buy things for your character.
You earn all kinds of achievements, one that I'm sure will appeal to any child. Kaden is all about points and scores. But, the trophies are nice and the little notes you can send them.Speaking of that, the parent's reports are amazing. You can check on their progress, find out where they are excelling and what areas need improvement. But, my favorite is the additional game recommendations they offer to help your kiddo improve in their struggling area. You can even see how your child compares with other kids in the same grade if you want to. Some of the reports you can even print them out if you need to save anything like this for end of the year or state requirements. Or just to save so you can see their progress.
So, what did we think? I have to be honest...on a sensory standpoint it was a little overwhelming for Kaden at times, but we turned the volume down and that helped. If your child doesn't have sensory issues this wont be a problem. I do have to mention that the instruction are also given orally, which id perfect for audial learners. First off Kaden loved the variety and the uncheesiness of the games. I know that's not a word, but it's what he said. We will definitely be continuing this program through the summer, especially since we are moving and I don't have extra time to do book work with him. He can navigate this program completely independently. I encourage you to check it out for your kiddos.
