Bible Study Guide For All Ages~ REVIEW

We read scripture almost daily around here and we have tried many Bible curriculum in our homeschool.  Recently I heard about Bible Study Guide For All Ages for the first time ever and I've been using the Advanced (5th and 6th grade) level with Kaden for a few weeks now.  This specific Bible curriculum can be used in a group setting or individually.

There are 4 levels to pick from; Beginner (3-K), Primary (1st-2nd), Intermediate (3rd-4th), and Advanced (5th-6th).  You will be able to cover the Old and New Testaments in a little over 400 lessons if you work right through the program.  I was also thrilled to have enough wall space in our school room to put up their Wall Maps and Timeline set.

Top is the Teacher page and the Bottom is the Student's
We received both the Student and Teacher pages.  The Teacher pages are extremely helpful because truly it's the exact as the Student pages, except has the answers and great info, extra verses on the side and along the bottom.  Each lesson is a front and back of the page, but for Kaden we took it slower and only did 1-2 full lessons on average a week.  Using the worksheet, timeline and maps was a lot for him at first.

We would start the week with the Remember It section and Memory Workout.  This is such a great review of the previous lessons.  And the Memory Workout is where we get to use the sturdy small Bible Book Summary Cards.  The cards had memorable graphics on the front and on the backs you would find that specific book of the Bible's highlights and several questions.  The next day we would finish the front page and spending as much time as possible with the Timeline and Maps

By far Kaden's favorite part of this curriculum is the Discover the Bible section.  It's like a comic series that is very easy to follow.  The questions to the side are numbered with the corresponding comic cell.  Normally Kaden doesn't like tracing, coloring, circling or labeling, but this is not the case here.  I think the graphics caught his attention and the short instructions within each cell was easy enough to do without feeling too overwhelmed my long questions.  Another close favorite is the Guess What section, which gives a little morsel of Historical info.  Like in lesson 4 we learned what a cupbearer was and how he served the King.  In lesson 6 we learned that  signet ring had a special design cut into it so the person wearing it could leave their imprint in a wax seal or clay.  I know what you are thinking....super cool!

The Get Active portion of the lesson was the least used, mainly because well it was just him and I, they are perfect if you have a few kiddos.  But, some of them we were able to modify and do together.  But, let me tell you Kaden was quick to whip out his Bible and read the given scriptures and answer the questions in the Apply It section.  We had some pretty good conversations regarding what his thoughts were about what he read.

First I just have to say this has been my favorite Bible Curriculum to date.... Kaden has asked numerous times if we can continue this all the way through Revelations.  I was like yes, you bet!  He wanted me to add that he liked that we could use it as a placemat at breakfast time and work on it while we eat.  We never did that, but he wanted me to include that as a suggestion in the hopes we will do that too.  Not a bad idea though! :)

I love love love the Label Book binder that has everything so amazingly organized and shows when and where to place everything.  I pre-cut everything and put it on Kaden's desk for him to put up on the map or timeline as we go through the lessons.

The Maps and Time Line are bright and beautiful.  I am lucky to have the wall space, but if you don't the time line is divided so you could put them on cardboard for easy storage.  And the maps are about the size of poster board.

So, what did I think?  Well it's obvious to all of us that this Bible program is going to be just what Kaden needs.  Having Autism gives him some challenges and I was unsure this would be a good fit.  But, it was easy to spread out over a few days if he needed or do more on days that he could focus longer.  It was not too much writing, but more then enough to truly help him grasp the important lessons the Bible has for us to apply in our daily lives.  I suggest heading over and picking up your own set for the new school year.
